"Over the Road & Town to Town" - International Road Race/Rallies - An Overview

Ever since its inception, the automobile has created a love affair with speed, excitement, and competition for those who own them; and nowhere is this love affair more evident than in our hundred year history of road rallies. From the earliest and astonishingly competitive French road tours ending in Monte Carlo to the thousands of spectacular contemporary vintage road race and rally events in the United States this bigger than life-sized animated phenomenon has also created, exploited and promoted tourism with enthusiasts becoming visitors in far off lands.

"Over the Road & Town to Town" will explore the rich heritage of automobile race rallies as they evolved into the historic rallies of today. Never before seen archival footage and unique insights into this fast moving and entertaining car culture will augment an examination of the people, the machines, and the impressive technical skills of those who keep them running.

Television, the movies, and often wealthy philanthropists and celebrities have been a major influence on this style of competition just as they have helped to create automotive tastes for the American and European public. As strong as Rock and Roll and as memorable as the drive-in movie theatre, this inspiring follow-along documentary-style half hour show series offers a storehouse of knowledge for younger viewers, an adventure for those less automotively knowledgeable and precious memories for those who were there when it happened.
